Balance
The ultimate necessity for both surfing and yoga. On the waves, balance is about staying upright in constantly shifting water – and yoga gives you the tools you need before your feet even touch the sand.
Core-strengthening poses like plank or boat build endurance for paddling. Hip openers like warrior and lizard create the mobility needed for quick pop-ups, and shoulder-focused postures add strength for all those strokes.
Our morning yoga sessions wake up the body so you can find better balance and focus – so when the wave tilts, dips, or curls, your practice has already trained you to move with it, not against it.
Breath
Every yoga session at our place begins with breathwork, syncing inhale and exhale to the rhythm of the nearby Costa Rican ocean. These steadying breaths calm the nervous system and clear the mind.
Take the same technique into the surf, and you’ll notice how it steadies your body while paddling, helps you recover between sets, and keeps you grounded after a tumble. Breath bridges both practices, and here, the sound of the Pacific is the perfect metronome to tune into.
Presence
